Sneha is 24 years old and based in Coventry. With a degree in Marketing and a background spanning fashion, tech, events and the charitable sector, she brings a breadth of experience. Her journey into horse racing began just last year with Wolverhampton and from that moment she was hooked. She applied to the Racing Media Academy because she sees herself as a lifelong learner, and felt that stepping into this exciting new world learning alongside industry professionals was the perfect way to begin her career in racing. She is thrilled to be joining Arena Racing Company for her placement and is looking forward to working alongside experts in the field and soaking up as much knowledge as possible.
My time with the academy was a genuine eye-opener into an industry I had no prior background in. There was so much to learn, and so many small details that carry real weight but are easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. Coming in with a bit more background knowledge would have helped, but the program was still beginner-friendly, and I never felt lost. My cohorts were amazing, I made some really good friends, and the mentors were fantastic, we still keep in touch to this day.
My placement was with Arena Racing Company, where I got to explore different departments, work on and behind race days, and interact with the audience. I’ve worked in media for years, but experiencing a completely new industry like this was such a different kind of challenge, it’s fast-paced and no two days are ever the same. One of my favourite parts was meeting them amazing and knowledgeable speakers during the academy, and later, through my placement, getting to visit different race courses and see how each one, while part of the same company, still had its own distinct local character.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity, the people I met, and everything I am learning along the way.
