Liam is a 21-year-old undergraduate student at UCFB Wembley studying Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting. His previous three years at university has provided him with opportunities to work alongside the PDC at the Worlds Darts Championships gaining insightful, valuable experience as well as roles in racing such as with RMA alumni Liam Mullen at MRM Media.
He was introduced to horse racing as early as he can remember, watching meetings with his Nanna and Grandad picking out horses in the paper during the school holidays with his earliest significant memory being the buzz around Don’t Push It winning Sir A.P his first ever national, followed by Neptune Collognes and Tiger Roll emulating the great Red Rum – though Tiger Roll is being chased home by Grey Dawning as his favourite of all time. From Liam Mullen granting Liam the opportunity to work at Michael Keady’s yard last February, to watching racing at Gulfstream Park and filming jockeys at point-to-points across the country, it is fair to say if it wasn’t for his Grandad he would have never been in racing and loving every second of it.
He is extremely excited to meet the rest of the 2026 cohort and it grants him the perfect opportunity to showcase and develop his skills at one of the UK’s top broadcasters as well as meet like minded people and industry experts who can take him from a novice to a specialist in his field.
During my time on placement at ITV Sport, I was fortunate enough to gain experience across various sectors of broadcast television. From sitting in edits for the FIFA World Cup to creating my own edit, a reprise of Qirat’s Sussex Stakes win in 2025 played out on air prior to Bow Echo’s victory this year.
My main roles during my time included Digital Produced which entailed managing the social accounts of ITV Racing during Royal Ascot and Newmarket July Festival as well as EVS Producing the Coral Eclipse and Newbury Super Sprint day.
Following the success of my placement, I have been offered the opportunity to continue to work for ITV Racing freelance as an Online Producer covering onsite at Glorious Goodwood, York Ebor and also being a runner at Doncaster’s St Leger festival in September. The industry experience gained from the Racing Media Academy has been more than what I could have imagined prior to starting and it has given me a strong platform to build my career in racing.
