Holly Trout - 2026

Holly is a Business Management and Finance graduate from the University of Brighton. She began her career in accounting before deciding to pursue her dream of working within the racing industry.

Over the past year, she has broadened her industry knowledge by attending a wide range of race meetings and completing a sports journalism course, further strengthening both her understanding of and enthusiasm for horse racing.

Outside of racing, Holly enjoys spending time with and riding her horse, Frank.

During her time at the Racing Media Academy, she is looking forward to meeting like-minded people who share her passion for the sport. She is also keen to develop her social media and storytelling skills, as well as expand her knowledge of international racing through her placement at Ascot Racecourse and by being part of the thrilling week of Royal Ascot.

Racing Media Academy – The Experience

It was a fantastic week filled with opportunities to meet like-minded people, hear from inspirational speakers at different stages of their careers, and gain an insight into the many different paths within the racing industry. We also had the opportunity to visit some incredible organisations, including Dalham Hall, which made the experience even more memorable.

Following the Academy, I was fortunate to complete a placement at Ascot, working alongside the Communications and Social Media teams during some of the biggest fixtures of the year, including Royal Ascot and the King George.

During my placement, I helped produce media briefing sheets for broadcasting teams, supported the wider communications and social media work, and gained an insight into the many different aspects of Ascot beyond racing.

The experience has given me a much greater understanding of racing media and the opportunities within the industry, while also giving me the confidence and inspiration to continue pursuing a career in this area.
